Sydney is the Editor of the Community College Humanities Review, the Managing Editor for Soundings, an online craft journal for the Rainier Writing Workshop, and she also is the Editor of Fireweed: Poetry of Oregon, a relaunch of one of the longest running local poetry journals in the state. She has a keen sense of medium and audience, and she prides herself on speedy responses and helping writers through the publication process.

Sydney is a published poet and essayist. She also has published interviews, academic articles, profiles, and creative nonfiction. She has written several papers on her curriculum that embeds trauma-informed practices in the classroom. A recent creative work was a recent nonfiction finalist and published in the anthology, Women Under Scrutiny.

She recently finished a collection of lyric nonfiction on memory and is working on another collection about her work in Search and Rescue and the grandmother she never knew she had.
